Jeff cares. Jeff has always cared.
Mr. Jefferson Byrd was employed at the Navajo Refinery, located in Artesia. The refinery boasts a crude oil capacity of 100,000 barrels per day, serving markets in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico.
Located at the plant are two temporary waste storage sites: one pad specific to hazardous waste, the other dedicated to non-hazardous waste. Numerous containers were delivered to the non-hazardous waste pad that were unable to be identified. Jeff took bold action, having received information from the operations department on the delivery containers.
Because of Jeff’s diverse knowledge of the plant’s operations, he immediately recognized and identified the containers. His quick decision to redirect the containers to their proper place of deposition was reported to have saved over $1 million in product that would otherwise have been bound for a landfill and other disposal costs.
Saving the company’s product while protecting the environment by following regulation demonstrates Mr. Byrd’s high character quality: by thinking quickly, Jeff’s actions prevented waste, enabling the company continue contributing to the New Mexico economy.
Jeff has the broad-base experience, the leadership abilities, and the decision-making capacity that make him the perfect fit to serve on the Public Regulation Commission, representing the second district.
